The Community League Bike Challenge is back! Yellowbird Pedals!

This year Yellowbird will be defending its 2nd place title! Last year we collectively pedaled a total of 14471.5 kms! There will be a few exciting changes to the bike month this year including weekly prize draws and evening group rides. Stay tuned!
The Community League Bike Month Challenge is a friendly competition to see which community league can bike the most KM’s in June. Every Yellowbird community resident is invited to participate in this challenge. We will be competing with several other leagues for bragging rights! On June 1st Yellowbird residents are invited to track their cycling and pool their kilometres with their neighbours on Strava. Every kilometer counts. Across the city, mountains, roads, single tracks, anywhere a bike can go adds to our total.
Dont want to get the app? No problem! Submit your total distance (in kilometers) HERE after your last ride for the week on Sunday
Tips and Tricks
1) You can MANUALLY input activities into Strava even if you track your distance with a different device, just look for the plus sign [+].
2) If you take your family out for a ride, your children’s distance counts as well! So if your family of four takes a four-kilometre spin, you can report 16 km total.
Happy Pedals!

Community League Bike Mechanic Program
Need your bike tuned up? Yellowbird was one of three community Leages that was selected to participate in Bike Edmonton’s Tune-up/Waste-Down Project. Two Yellowbird residents were trained to become local bike mechanics to serve you in our community.
Our goal? Free bike tune ups, inspire more cycling trips and encourage donation of old bikes to Bike Edmonton (keeping them out of the landfill). Bike Edmonton is non-profit society dedicated to making everyday cycling in Edmonton safer and more widespread by providing bicycle services, education, and civic representation.
